Summary

The following report is based on 3 days of extensive testing and study on the Extraterrestrial craft that landed in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 22nd. Large amounts of this information are speculative but represents the best of our knowledge. Exploitation efforts are ongoing.

On March 22nd three XENO-1 “DROPPOD” vehicles were fired at targets around the globe. One such vehicle was recovered by US forces in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This pod disgorged a single extraterrestrial life form which is still at large. The DROPPOD appears to have no defensive capability, and no clear effort to restrict US access to it has been observed.

A 27-man team is present at Hanscom AFB and is inspecting and disassembling the XENO-1 vehicle. The following has been ascertained.

Structure.

(TS//NOFORN) The structure of the vehicle is a rough sphere approximately 4 meters in diameter with a vertically sliding doorway of approximately 1.5 meters wide by 2.5 meters tall built into the sphere. The surface is divided into 28 facets including the now retracted doorway, of varying size and shape. The surface is perfectly symmetrical when centered on the doorway.

(TS//NOFORN) A single seat occupies most of the internal space. There is also a variety of unknown devices and screens positioned facing the seat to either side.

(TS//NOFORN) The surface of the sphere is uneven with numerous ridges and unknown devices, presumed to be sensors, electronic communications and thrusters protruding out to a maximum distance of 5cm. None show any sign of damage from atmospheric entry.

(TS//NOFORN) The external structure has a thickness of 50cm with an internal framework of 5cm thick XA-2 mirroring the external divisions between facets.

Material Study

 XM-1

(TS//NOFORN) The Primary structure of the DROPPOD is made of an unidentified material, henceforth named XM-1. XM-1 is estimated to be partially titanium and iron but combined with an unknown material. This alloy is extremely resistant to heat, impact and most forms of physical damage.

(TS//NOFORN) No known methods of welding adhesive use or riveting appear to have been used in the construction of XENO-1. The method of melding components is unknown currently.

(TS//NOFORN) Samples of XM-1 were obtained by brute physical force applied to one of the exterior panels, requiring a pneumatic claw to pry apart. All efforts to cut the alloy with welding torches proved futile, though diamond tipped equipment proved capable after later testing.

(TS//NOFORN) When exposed to extreme heat XM-1 produces a steady electrical current directly equivalent to the amount of heat applied to the surface. Testing has shown no limit to the amount of heat able to be absorbed by XM-1 at this time. This is theorized to be directly related to its resistance to extreme heat during attempted disassembly, as all heat from welding torches was instantly absorbed and transferred to electrical power. Potential for utilization of this property is immense.

(TS//NOFORN) Samples of XM-1 have been sent to Site-1 for further analysis.

XM-2

(TS//NOFORN) The interior support struts appear to be a secondary material henceforth named XM-2. This material appears to form a framework around which a XM-1 “skin” has been placed.

(TS//NOFORN) XM-2 Appears visually distinct from XM-1, holding an appearance similar to steel. Its properties, however, are divergent.

(TS//NOFORN) XM-2 Is highly resistant to physical damage, but is vulnerable to direct application of heat, in contrast to XM-1.

(TS//NOFORN) XM-2 Holds no electrical generation properties, unlike XM-1. The material does possess considerable electrical storage capacity, perhaps acting as an integrated battery or fuel cell in addition to its structural strength. No conventional means of electrical engineering appear capable of withdrawing this energy, it only seems to absorb and store for use by extraterrestrial devices and XM-1.

(TS//NOFORN) Samples of XM-2 have been sent to Site-1 for further analysis.

Other materials

(TS//NOFORN) The primary seat is constructed of an unknown leather covering over a foam that appears almost identical to polyurethane used commonly in upholstery on earth. The leather is of an unknown source but appears extraterrestrial in origin. The structural framework of the seat appears to be a mechanically adjustable steel frame.

(TS//NOFORN) The interior side of the XM-1 outer skin is covered in a foam identical to the seating material between the XM-2 struts. Underneath this foam lies the electrical webwork discussed later.

Electronic systems and network

(TS//NOFORN) The internal framework of XENO-1 appears to serve as an internal power system, acting as both an electrical storage and distribution network. The primary source of power seems to be the XM-1 skin, though an additional presumed power generator was located behind the single seat of the craft.

(TS//NOFORN) The interior surface of XENO-1 is covered with a webwork of fine filaments of XM-3, a material that seems to have superconducting properties. No electrical current could be used from these filaments except by extraterrestrial devices. Electrical current could be absorbed and presumably distributed from our equipment and the XM-1 skin. Samples of the XM-3 filaments have been sent to Site-1 for further analysis.

(TS//NOFORN) A presumed generator was located behind the single seat. This device is a cylinder approximately 30cm long with a diameter of 15cm. An unknown crystal is held in place by filaments visually indistinct from the XM-3 filaments within a container reminiscent of clear fiberglass which is capped on both ends by XM-2. A touchscreen sits on one cap. This touchscreen does not respond to human touch, but when touched with leather samples from the seat, the device presented three buttons with unknown symbols on each. When the first button on the left was pressed, extreme electrical current was produced from the opposite cap, leading to one fatality. (Incident report I-2568) Disassembly or further investigation of this device was deemed unwise at this time, and it has been sent to Site-1 for further analysis.

(TS//NOFORN) Following the incident with the extraterrestrial generator, further investigation of devices located within the vessel was discouraged by local command. Several other samples were collected for further analysis, listed below:

  1. 2 devices of unknown purpose, rectangular with a diagonal measurement of 3cm and a depth of 8mm. A screen is set into one side that does not respond to human touch. Reminiscent of a human cell phone, possibly a control device.
  2. 1 device of unknown purpose, cylindrical, with a length of 50cm and a diameter of 2cm. Theorized to be a weapon of some sort. A single button is inset into a location 10 cm from one end for untested purpose.
  3. 1 device of unknown purpose, circular, approximately 25cm in diameter and made of a 1cm thick metal ring. No control mechanism was determined. Theorized as extraterrestrial “jewelry” of some kind.

Refer to incident report I-2574 for the current status of these devices.

Propulsion

(TS//NOFORN) The exterior of the craft possesses 12 devices at locations suitable for maneuvering thrusters. When a small electrical current was applied to one it produced a flame and propulsion force enough to roll the XENO-1 vehicle onto its side.

(TS//NOFORN) The exact mechanism of these maneuvering thrusters is unknown. Disassembly produced no fuel supply. The thruster continued to be capable of operation when detached from the vessel.

(TS//NOFORN) Maximum thrust capabilities have yet to be determined, but based off preliminary testing these thrusters would be capable of making the craft able to fly independently in atmosphere even as non-aerodynamic as its structure is. The immense energy storage capabilities of the internal framework combined with the ability of the thruster to function only on electrical current would likely make the vessel highly maneuverable, especially immediately after entering the atmosphere.

Life Support

(TS//NOFORN) The XENO-1 “DROPPOD” appears equipped with life support systems for limited deep space operations. A small, self-contained, ventilation and oxygen distribution machine is installed on either side of the internal compartment.

(TS//NOFORN) Four highly pressurized bottles of concentrated oxygen, made of a similar steel to the chair support frame, are built into the life support device. No other gases were identified as being stored within the internal compartment or surrounding structure.

(TS//NOFORN) The life support systems appear to operate mechanically and relatively simply, similar in most regards to human systems. The only item of exceptional interest regarding the life support systems is their capability to draw electricity directly from the XM-2 support structure using XM-3-comprised wiring. The system is more efficient than earth models and has been removed from XENO-1 for further analysis at Site-1.

(TS//NOFORN) The life support systems engage automatically when the front hatchway is closed via the switch hidden in a compartment to the left of the hatchway. Life support systems automatically pressurize the compartment with oxygen and nitrogen only, filtering all other gasses out.

IMPLICATIONS:

(TS//NOFORN) The XM-1, XM-2 AND XM-3 Materials represent a significant technological gap between humanity and the extraterrestrial forces. Applications of this technology range widely beyond simple replication of the XENO-1 spacecraft. The presence of especially XM-1 in significant quantities implies these materials may be readily available and easy to produce by the extraterrestrial forces. It is highly suggested by the engineering team that the remaining structure of XENO-1 be disassembled and its materials used and extensively studied.

(TS//NOFORN) The XENO-1 spacecraft appears incapable of return flight to Armastus-1 without an occupant. Similarly, it lacks any form of self-destruction or method of making its technology irretrievable by Human forces. This implies this craft may be seen as disposable, and as such likely does not represent the extent of extraterrestrial technology. It is also possible the Extraterrestrial forces seem humanity too primitive to make full use of the present technology.

(TS//NOFORN) The thrust capabilities and lack of fuel cells for thrust devices has wide ranging applications if these can be successfully reverse-engineered. The presence of thrust devices and their capabilities implies XENO-1 and possibly other alien vehicles are capable of extreme maneuvering, possibly exceeding human tolerances within a vacuum, implying that the Extraterrestrial beings may be more resistant to G-forces than humans.

(TS//NOFORN) The presence of some fairly simple mechanical devices for life support and seating implies a potential lack of technological focus on the well-being of crew. This also implies that the vehicle may not be intended for long-term use. The variation of design between these systems and the overall nature of XENO-1 may imply different points of origin.

(TS//NOFORN) The use of leather of unknown Extraterrestrial origin is curious and further analysis is highly recommended.

(TS//NOFORN) The presence of numerous artifacts of unknown purpose and the events of Incident I-2574 imply the extraterrestrial being may not have had time to properly equip for its purpose on earth due to nearly instantaneous military response.

(TS//NOFORN) The lack of effort placed by extraterrestrial forces into protecting, destroying or otherwise preventing study of the XENO-1 vehicle implies this technology is not considered to be a threat to their interests. While further study and exploitation is highly important, capture of more advanced extraterrestrial technology should be made a priority. The DROPPOD itself contains enough advanced materials for small scale usage, but acquiring further samples could only be beneficial.

INCIDENT REPORT I-2568

TOP SECRET

From the desk of Colonel George Carpenter, base commander of Hanscom Air Force Base.

(TS//NOFORN) On March 22nd at approximately 23:15 hours, the presumed extraterrestrial generator was located behind the seat within the central compartment of the XENO-1 DROPPOD spacecraft. Approximately 4 hours later, testing began.

(TS//NOFORN) The device’s screen, located on one cap of the cylinder, did not initially respond to any touch. Lt. Arnold Cavendish, one of the engineers assigned to the exploitation efforts, suggested utilizing an already obtained sample of the leather seat from within the cabin of XENO-1. This produced immediate results with the screen lighting up and displaying unknown text for approximately 5 seconds before displaying a simple screen with three buttons labeled in unknown text.

(TS//NOFORN) Three additional hours were spent attempting to discern the devices’ function, without pressing any of the buttons. No results were reported at this time. Theories speculated from an alien battery or generator, weapon, or secure storage device for the unknown crystalline structure stored within.

(TS//NOFORN) At 06:27 March 23rd the decision was made to press the first button on the panel. The object was located on a metal table and all nearby personnel were wearing protective gloves, shielding goggles. Pvt Brendon Casey who was selected for the task, was wearing a full set of EOD Bomb Suit armor. Observing were Pvt. Taylor Hackett, Sgt. Alan Jones, and Technical Sgt. Katrina Oliver. Pvt Taylor was leaning on the far side of the table, unwisely attempting to observe the opposite cap of the device. He appears to have been unnoticed and in violation of the Exploitation Commander, Captain William Baker’s, orders to maintain a safe distance. The Captain was not observing at this time, having retired to his quarters for the night, leaving immediate command in Lt Cavendish’s hands.

(TS//NOFORN) At 06:28:03 Lt Cavendish pressed the first button on the left of the screen, a green circle. The device immediately produced a strong electrical current that flowed into the table for 10.7 seconds. Pvt. Taylor was electrocuted despite the insulating gloves. The device shut down after that period, seemingly regardless of Lt Cavendish’s press of the button again hoping to disable the device. Pvt Taylor collapsed to the ground at 06:28:15 and was pronounced dead at 06:31 by combat medic Pvt. Franz Hoffman. A local coroner later confirmed his cause of death as extreme electrocution.

(TS//NOFORN) (NOTE FROM COL CARPENTER) Frankly, General, this never would have happened if we had a properly trained and equipped team of dedicated experimental engineers or scientists. I understand many of the facilities dedicated to such are unreachable due to the EMP blast from the events of March 21st, however we currently have in military custody many leading experts in many relevant fields. While I understand the necessity of questioning their loyalty, there was no reason a few could not have been requisitioned under guard for this project. Had this been done, Pvt Taylor may still be alive today.

INCIDENT REPORT I-2574

(TS//NOFORN) By March 24th all relevant individual artifacts had been recovered from the XENO-1 spacecraft and had been stored temporarily in the hangar set aside for the XENO-1 Exploitation effort. These objects were located in a secure locked cabinet when not under study. 4 Armed Soldiers patrolled the inside of the hangar, and 8 patrolled outside, there was also a heightened security state at the base, leading to increased guard postings.

(TS//NOFORN) On March 24th at 2:01 am the guard outside the side entry door to the XENO-1 hangar collapsed as recorded by camera. Later investigation revealed no injuries other than minor scrapes from the collapse. The soldier, one Pvt Helene Boris, reported being overcome with sudden overwhelming exhaustion, leading to her collapse.

(TS//NOFORN) 30 seconds after Pvt Boris’ collapse, the door to the hangar opened setting off alarms across the base. Camera footage shows the door opening on its own, shattering the locks instantly. Further investigation revealed significant damage to the door in the form of a brunt force impact.

(TS//NOFORN) At 02:02:12 The 4 guards inside the hangar began sweeping towards the opened door. Reinforcements were mobilized towards the hangar.

(TS//NOFORN) At 02:02:47 The door to the secure storage cabinet burst open, Pvt Kyle Gregory opened fire with 5 rounds towards the cabinet, believing an invisible extraterrestrial infiltrator was present. Upon later investigation several small droplets of purple liquid, similar in texture to blood, were located near the cabinet and one bullet is unaccounted for. Lt Cavendish ordered a cease-fire, not wanting to potentially damage the artifacts and ordered the guards to charge the cabinet. Samples of the unknown liquid have been sent to Site-1 for further analysis.

(TS//NOFORN) At 02:03:03 Pvt Phillip McAllen, in the point position of the charge and only 3 yards away from the cabinet, was struck by an unknown projectile. His injuries were significant and Pvt McAllen remains in critical condition. The injuries were seemingly from a small explosive energy device that incinerated part of his chest, a concave circular region approximately 2 inches in diameter, and left 3rd degree burns for 3 inches surrounding the impact. Footage and statements from the soldiers show a burst of green energy, forming a ball approximately 1/3rd of an inch in diameter, was fired from otherwise empty space in front of the cabinet.

(TS//NOFORN) Lt Cavendish ordered his soldiers to immediately take cover and return fire. Beginning at 02:03:21 84 rounds were expended firing towards the cabinet. All of these fired rounds are accounted for at this time, and no further impact on the infiltrator is suspected. Investigation of the secure cabinet destroyed in the barrage revealed no sign of the artifacts or remains thereof.

(TS//NOFORN) At 02:04:34 reinforcements surrounded the hangar, and several squads were sent inside. A medic was obtained for Pvt McAllen at this time. Base security proved unable to locate any of the artifacts or any other evidence of infiltration in the surrounding area. Perimeter investigation revealed a torn hole in the outer fence approximately 2.5 meters tall and 1 meter wide.

(TS//NOFORN) No similar incidents have been reported at this time. The presumed extraterrestrial generator, secure on a truck to Site-1 at the time, was not intercepted or captured. No attempts to damage the XENO-1 spacecraft, present in the same hangar, appear to have been made.

(TS//NOFORN) (NOTE FROM COL CARPENTER) This attack is presumed currently to be a successful operation by an extraterrestrial infiltrator to reclaim the artifacts. I suspect the extraterrestrial life form did not have time to collect it’s equipment on March 22nd due to our rapid deployment to the XENO-1 crash site, and the distraction of the Hermes Foundation.

This attack posits several important questions and implications. For one, it appears the aliens’ possess the capability for total invisibility. No visible sign of the infiltrator was ever seen, nor the artifacts presumably in its possession. Close analysis of camera footage shows the artifacts vanishing one at a time instantaneously.

They also have weaponry that, while highly damaging, does not seem to be designed to kill. The wound self-cauterized, and Pvt McAllen lost minimal blood during the encounter. His recovery is estimated to take 6 months and the doctors are unsure if he will ever regain full functionality. He has been awarded the purple heart for his service.

(TS//NOFORN FOR GEN. TRUJILLO’S EYES ONLY) (PERSONAL NOTE TO GEN. TRUJILLO) The lack of attention given to the pod itself intrigues me, General. There was no attempt to prevent our seizure of it in the first place, and now successful alien infiltration presented seemingly no interest in it, only in recovering the alien’s equipment. (We are operating under the assumption that this infiltrator is the same alien from the initial crash site.)  I don’t know entirely what to think of that, but I strongly suggest moving the spacecraft to a more secure location and keeping a very close eye on it.

The most disturbing implication of this encounter, however, is Pvt Boris’ collapse. No drugs were found in her system. No injuries outside those sustained in the fall were found. If these aliens can control us to some extent, without even the need for physical intervention, the results could be disastrous.

We did learn two extremely important facts in our favor however, General: The fact the alien left this equipment in the first place means they can make mistakes, and, by the blood, we learned they can be hurt.
